Chief 56 Chess Piece
Commemorating a 50th birthday and 30 years in the fire service, my father-in-law needed a gift to signify those years of service to his community and his family. This oversized walnut chess piece was intricately turned on a lathe to symbolize the strategy and wisdom evident in his life while commemorating a great pastime we share.
Tatham Table Transformation
The Tatham's first table had been sitting in a storage unit for years. This table held significant sentimental value from it's many years of use. It's scrapes, dings, and gouges had all but worn through the original honey oak finish. Rather than leave it sitting in a storage unit, it's owners had a great idea to repurpose it for a kids craft area. I resized the legs by turning them on the lathe and delicately removed the old finish. I sanded the wood down to an ultra-fine finish and applied a natural sealer to the top to give this old table a new purpose!

Epoxy Walnut Charcuterie Board
A great gift with a lot of natural character. I found a supplier of hardwoods from central Kansas selling walnut slabs for a decent price and decided to make some Christmas gifts for the parents. I hand-planed down any warps and filled knots and gaps with a very strong clear epoxy. After it cured, I sanded to an ultrafine finish and gave it a few coats of food safe butcherblock oil. The result was a perfectly smooth charcuterie board with its full character on display.
