About Us

Tyler Heidebrecht, Founder & Owner

I was born and raised in Olathe, Kansas, and like many others, I decided to stay because I love it here. The seasons, the landscapes, but mostly the people. If you know me, you know that I am deeply loyal and family-driven. And if you know me really well, chances are you share those same qualities. My friends and family have had a tremendous impact on shaping me, and that's what gives me such a passion for my local area. My vocation is community, and while I plan to construct many buildings, it's the community that forms inside them that I truly care about.

Growing up, I always had an interest in how things worked, so it was no surprise to those around me when I graduated high school and began studying Construction Science at Kansas State University. However, after my first year of college, I became so intrigued with the science behind how buildings operate that I decided to pursue Architectural Engineering instead. I'll be the first to admit that school didn't come easy to me, so this was a change of pace. I'll also admit that anyone can do what I do with enough hard work and determination. And hidden in there is the biggest lesson I learned in college: what doesn't come naturally can be understood with enough resolve. I studied Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Systems with an emphasis in Advanced Airside and Hydronic Mechanical Systems (fancy words for HVAC engineering). While in college, I married my wife, Eden, whom I met while serving as a group leader in the student ministry, Christian Challenge. I worked multiple jobs from park maintenance, roofing, lawn care, landscaping and handyman services while we both finished our degrees. After graduating in 2021, I got hired at a consulting engineering firm, Henderson Engineers, where I began pursuing engineering licensure. I worked for two and a half years designing MEP systems for commercial office buildings and industrial infrastructure while also assisting in retail and mission critical facilities.

I started Heidebrecht Homes in February of 2024 as a way to make extra income for my growing family and to have a creative outlet where I got to work with my hands again. Six months later in August, I had received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback that I decided to leave my corporate job and run a full time handyman business. Shortly after taking this leap, I started studying during nights to sit for the General Contractors Exam. In September, I passed the exam and became a licensed GC through Johnson County where I've started renovating houses while continuing to offer handyman services. I'm still pursuing my engineering licensure in addition to studying architectural design so I can begin to look at becoming a custom home designer and builder.

I'm an optimist, a trait I've found to be quite imperative as a business owner, but for good reason. I believe that I am offering something that is difficult to define and even harder to replicate: a true sense of community reflected in our churches, our buildings, our cities, our families. And I'm calling others to join me for the glory of the one who called me first—Jesus Christ.

“The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.” - Matthew 9:37
